SELECTION PROCEDURE
The Gauhati University conducts an independent entrance test at the national level to select candidates on the basis of merit. The admission procedure is a three-tier system comprising of a written examination, a group discussion and a personal interview. To ensure a low student teacher ratio and facilitates personalized learning through close interaction amongst student, faculty members and alumni, the strength of each batch is restricted to 33 students.

TEACHING APPROACH
The pedagogical approach adopted by the department is a judicious combination of classroom lectures; group exercises case analyses, presentation, guest lectures, in-basket techniques, industrial visits and workshops.

THE EVALUATION SYSTEM
The department provides opportunities for evaluating the strengths of the students on the basis of their and competence in understanding, appreciating and solving problems through seminars, workshops, panel discussions and case analyses. Term papers, regular tests and group oral presentations compromise the bulk of internal evaluation process. A term examination at the end of each semester evaluates the depth of understanding of students in the light of the relevance of various management concepts in practical fields of application.
